Nice outside dining area. Live band on Saturday night. Food was ok . My wings were tough. My husband like his shrimp. Burger were good. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Not a huge menu. Dinner for 4 was around $200.00...

Inattentive service, long waits, cold food.Waitress was inattentive. Drinks were made by the bar and sat ready and warming for 5+ minutes. Two orders of fried shrimp, poboy, and sides came out cold. Shrimp still had partial shells. Side of fruit was still fully frozen. Burger was warm (good). Lettuce was wilted.

During the quarantine we ordered take out of fried shrimp and blackened mahi. Both mahi and shrimp were fresh and delicious. We had rice with one order and chip sliced potatoes with the other. Rice was fixed very well with fresh tomatoes and seasoning. Each dinner had fresh green beans. This dinner was very good. New owners are doing a good job.

A pretty, beachy restaurant! The seatings are all outdoors so it gets a little warm but the food is quite good. The service can be a little slow at times! Good for families as well.

Great outdoor atmosphere with a nice one man band playing. The service was terrible! We had 11 in our party but only 2 other tables at 7:00 pm so no reason for slow kitchen. The food did not come out together after waiting a long time. I had the fish taco and a Caesar salad and I would give them fast food quality at best,

This place was great. Exactly what you imagine for an authentic beach dive. Fried shrimp basket hit the spot and the fries were seasoned perfectly. My wife was one of those people and got the nachos at a seafood place but she said they were fantastic.

For 25 years we have gone to a family reunion in Fernandina beach and without fail eat here at least once or twice. I love their fried shrimp, wings, and apps. I’m sure we will back for year 26

Good food, good service, fair prices. Love the open air dining experience. Close to the beach so we got the breeze, and lots of small fans. Though the day was hot, we were comfortable. Plus the shades kept the sun off our faces. Also appreciate that the music allowed us to chat without having to yell! It's become one of our favorite restaurants.

The service is super slow.hostace and server were extremely nice and acomidatimg but the food was over cooked on the catch of the day and the hushpuppy were dry and to dark to be acceptable to be served.This is coming from a kitchen manager of a 4 star seafood resturant.The bartenders were a bit slow on the uptake of drinks.Was waiting for 20 min befor I was able to get a captain and coke, and it turns out that it wasent captain it was a cheep grose substitute that made a nasty drink.And when I ordered the plane natchos the ships were soggy soft on the botom of the tray they were served on and I ordered blacken chiken on them and it came 10 min after i got the natchos.On another note the queso was amazing.Crissy was our server and was verry attentive to our needs and tryed to make it right everytime we said something was wrong

Worst dining experience in my life! Avoid this place at all costs. Waitresses are RUDE. Plenty of other options in the area to get better food at lower prices. ZERO stars.

Great menu choices and love this local and tourist fave casual outdoor bar and restaurant across the street from the beach. Old place but newly renovated. Nice view. Service is usually very good and always friendly, but last visit took a little long for grilled shrimp on a not so busy day. However, that won't stop me from going back again and again.

Friendly, great food and nominal prices. Just off the beach. The surf burger is as good as any.

It was OK, my expectations were higher so slightly disappointed being my 1st time. No crab legs on their menu which is one of my wife's favorites.

Stopped in for lunch today. Glad we did as we had never tried this place. Food was great. Fried shrimp basket had huge tasty shrimp. Not greasy. Husband had mahi sandwich which he said was really good. Great ice cream! We sat inside- really nice clean restaurant. Michelle our server was friendly. She was pretty busy attending to customers sitting outside but she took care of us. The woman behind the ice cream counter was very nice also. . The only suggestion I have is about the parking. We almost didn’t stay as we couldn’t find a place to park (but finally found a spot). We mentioned this to one of the staff and they said there’s parking in the back. However there are no signs to direct you there. Some signage would help. We saw several cars drive in and leave when they couldn’t find a place to park. We’ll be back!

I gave one star b/c that’s the lowest you can go. After 2 hours and 15 minutes of not receiving food. We told the manger and was told we were getting it on the house and our food. We waited another 45 minutes and never received anything. And no sign of management anywhere.

The service was terrible until the manager stepped in to rectify it. After that it was great!

Breakfast in the cafe this morning was excellent! You really should try it. But what impressed me the most was the service. Hats off to Jessica. She kept cool, friendly, and showed real hussle. And thank you Bailey for stepping up and helping out. These ladies are what customer service is all about. Definitely going back.

Tuna poke bowls was way better than Salt Life! Would like an ahi tuna filet or sandwich. Great service!

Went with a large party for Sunday brunch. They were very accommodating. They staff did all they could to keep service moving, but food was coming out of kitchen slow. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was good, not great, but good enough that I will return and try other menu items. Nachos should have been a firmer chip. They get soggy quickly. Nice space layout for social gatherings.

This is our 1st time at the Surf Deck since they completed the renovations. The changes are really nice, and they have added a designated area for guests that have a dog with them, as we did this visit. It was too hot to leave him in the car even if parking shade had been available. There was a nice sea breeze and plenty of seating in the shade so there was no need to go into the A/C'd bar and grill area. We were there mid afternoon so the service was fast. I'm sure the regular hr meal crowds and weekend crowds will slow service some. The shrimp Poorboy meals were terrific, and the 2 chocolate ice cream selections were the perfect ending for today's heat. The servicing area in now considerably larger, cleaner and more attractive, and the covered serving areas will work much better in cold and inclement weather.

Great family atmosphere! Pet friendly! Great food from appetizer of nachos to shrimp/fish tacos and burgers! Will definitely come back.

My chicken Philly was very tasty for 1499. only negative is it took a while for the girl to come over to get our orders. But the staff was very friendly we sat outside and enjoyed our lunch. my friend got the chicken and waffles which she enjoyed but didn't like the smokey sauce that came with it.

Good food, priced too high though. Go inland for bigger portions and better value. Don't get a shot their nearly 9 dollars a piece.. Robbery

We have had great food and service from The Surf. Sitting outside and enjoying the local fare and vibe. Barb has been our server several times. I am always amazed at how she can remember multiple orders without writing them down!

Really good! They've worked out the kinks since reopening. Food was delish. Highly recommend the shrimp basket.

Staff was excellent and attentive. Happy hour is now back and running from 3-6 from Monday to Friday. 2 for 1 drafts, or half off depending on how you look at it. I had the shrimp and crab nachos. They were really good, especially with the Old Bay queso sauce, but the crab was definitely imitation. Better half had the crab cakes. Said there was too much filler and they were a bit on the spicy side. Overall ambiance was great and the meal was average.

Had not been back for about 6 months because our last visit was pretty bad. Food was cold, server was bad and beer was flat. They sent me a coupon so decided to try it again and it was great! Ethan our server was awesome and the food was fast and delicious! I had the chicken and waffles and my husband had the shrimp basket! Congrats! Everything was well improved!!

Breakfast was good. Typical items available. Good food and service was good.

My friend and I went on a trip and the restaurant was really nice cool with live music and their food was really good and tasty they were sort of busy that caused us to wait little bit longer but it was totally fine.

I frequent this place when in Fernandina. The staff is friendly and on the ball. The seafood is always fresh and delicious. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant. Whats not to like? There may be a reasonable wait for an outside table but hey, expected. Usually have a low key entertainer singing and strumming some pleasant tunes on most nights. There is also a full bar. Plenty of parking around back and in front which is well lit. Very casual, nothing fancy, just good. 😀

We love coming to The Surf Restaurant! Such a great atmosphere sitting outside with live music and wind off the ocean. The food was amazing as usual. We had the grilled shrimp, crab soup and clam strip basket. Best we’ve ever had! Hush puppies and salads were good as well. This is a family favorite that we will continue to visit!

Wife and I had a late lunch on a Monday. Service was great. Beer was cold and food was fantastic. Philly cheese steak was beyond incredible. We read other reviews that were less than desirable. But my wife wanted a smoothie (which she thoroughly enjoyed). Glad we ate here, zero complaints. Nothing but good things to say about this place.

The Surf has improved within the last few months with the new management. We went there last Saturday. The food was much better! The drink specials are very reasonable and the staff really worked hard to provide great service. We will come back!

The food was amazing, I had the blackened Shrimp Poke Bowl and am still thinking about how good it was. The band was okay, not out of this world but still great to be out and about. The sea breeze on the open air seating area was so refreshing. I wish I lived closer, this would be one of my regular spots.

Amazing food and the patrons are as nice as they can be! So I definitely recommend. I did have some issues with service...couldnt get silverware, ran out of drinks, feeling rushed to leave with an early check, etc. but service can change visit to visit so I am sure it’s usually awesome.

Love the new padio and music was great. Food was amazing best in the area, had a. Issue getting one of our meals a lot later than the other and the manager came over before we could even ask and took care of it, very professional!

The food was good all around. The kids menu items were hearty portions and as tasty as the regular menu items. Fried shrimp, chicken fingers, French fries, clam strips, and chicken and waffles... all great. The atmosphere was good. Lots of fans to keep it cool! The entertainment wasn’t good. One guitar, some piped in drums and bass from wherever, and a lady that couldn’t sing that well. I can’t choose not to hear the music, so turn it off or make it decent. The drunk folks clapping doesn’t mean it is good. It means it takes someone drunk to think it is good. Beer goggles. The service was mixed. I felt like the servers were having to run a lot, like the kitchen was way far away or something. All the servers were working very diligently, but just seemed overwhelmed. Very nice and pleasant though.

First time for my wife and I to be there and we already waited outside for almost an hour when they told us to be about 20 to 25 minutes and then we go inside and we sit down and it was over 30 minutes waiting on somebody just asked us what we wanted to drink and I had to get up and speak to the manager who had an attitude then we finally got service but the food wasn't a good anyway wish we wouldn't even stay
